Parliament speaker Talat Xhaferi said on Monday the round-table discussions on constitutional amendments were scheduled for completion today, and he expects the government to proceed them to parliament in the coming days.
Xhaferi will convoke a session of Parliamentary Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs on December 17. At the session, the lawmakers could table amendments to the amendments.
The entire process, according to Xhaferi, is scheduled for completion by mid-January, and the highly likely date a plenary session is January 9. The vote on proposed amendments will take place on January 15, Xhaferi said after the meeting with his Albanian counterpart Gramoz Ruci, who arrived in Macedonia on official visit.
The final stage of amendment process requires a two-thirds majority vote.
